What is this planet's position from the Sun?
Planets of the Solar System reference chart
All eight planets in order from the Sun, Mercury through Neptune, each with its astronomical symbol, type, size relative to Earth, orbital period, and mean distance from the Sun. These are stable astronomical facts — moon counts are left out on purpose, since they keep changing as new moons are confirmed.

The eight planets in order from the Sun
This reference lists all eight planets of the Solar System in order from the Sun — Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The four inner planets (Mercury through Mars) are small, rocky, terrestrial worlds; the two gas giants (Jupiter and Saturn) and two ice giants (Uranus and Neptune) are far larger. Each row shows the planet's astronomical symbol, its type, its diameter relative to Earth (Earth = 1), how many Earth years it takes to orbit the Sun once, and its mean distance from the Sun in astronomical units (1 AU is the average Earth–Sun distance). We keep to stable, verifiable facts and leave out moon counts, which change as new moons are confirmed. Pluto is not included: since 2006 it has been classified as a dwarf planet, not one of the eight planets.
How the quiz works
The flashcard quiz turns the chart into practice, and it asks in both directions: it either gives a position and asks which planet sits there ("Which planet is 4th from the Sun?"), or names a planet and asks for its position from the Sun. Each round offers four choices. Pick an answer and the quiz marks it right or wrong, reveals the correct planet-and-position pairing, and keeps a running score, current streak, and best streak for the session.
