Learn to read notes on the staff
Sheet music places each note on a five-line staff: notes sit either on a line or in the space between two lines, and moving up the staff steps up through the note names A B C D E F G. The treble clef (G clef) is used for higher instruments and the right hand on piano; the bass clef (F clef) is used for lower instruments and the left hand. Treble and bass clef mnemonics
On the treble clef the lines from bottom to top are E, G, B, D, F ("Every Good Boy Does Fine") and the spaces spell F, A, C, E ("FACE"). On the bass clef the lines are G, B, D, F, A ("Good Boys Do Fine Always") and the spaces are A, C, E, G ("All Cows Eat Grass"). Learn those eight anchors and you can count up or down to any other note on the staff.
How the quiz works
Each round draws one note on either the treble or bass clef staff and offers four letter names.
