BMI from height and weight, in metric or imperial units
Choose Metric to enter height in centimeters and weight in kilograms — the BMI is weight ÷ (height ÷ 100)². Choose Imperial to enter height in inches and weight in pounds — the BMI is 703 × weight ÷ height². The result updates live as you type, rounded to one decimal place, alongside the standard WHO weight category: Underweight below 18.5, Normal weight from 18.5 to 24.9, Overweight from 25 to 29.9, and Obesity at 30 and above.
An inline error appears instead of a result when the height or weight is empty, non-numeric, zero, or negative. This is the simple adult BMI formula only — body-fat percentage, BMI-for-age and pediatric percentiles, BMI Prime, ideal-weight ranges, and any health advice are out of scope.
